CIUDADES PARALELAS / PARALLEL CITIES

For Ciudades Paralelas / Parallel Cities curators Lola Arias en Stefan Kaegi (Rimini Protokoll) invited artists to design interventions in public space. Argentinian writer and director Mariano Pensotti transformed authors into surveillance camera's in his contribution to this project, by having them write scenes at the bus station as they occurred in front of them. Passers by read the texts like a novel that unfolds live on large projection screens above the people who appeared in the story. Sandra Lange is one of the authors that participated in this international project during Festival aan de Werf in Utrecht. A project that turns public space into a stage and where people are seduced to stay until their perception of their anonymous everyday environment has changed.

Ciudades Paralelas is a co-productie of HAU Berlin and Schauspielhaus Zürich, in cooperation with the Goethe-Instituut Warschau, Teatr Nowy and the Foundation of Teatr Nowy and was commisioned by Kulturstiftung des Bundes, the Swiss Cultural Foundation Pro Helvetia and the Goethe Institute Buenos Aires.
